Women’s Tonic
Women’s tonic for use during every season of a women’s journey. During pregnancy, delivery,menses, menopause; also for pain cramp, atony; related to birth, pregnancy, menstruation and menopause. Helpful for morning sickness; hot flashes; infertility; mild sedative; rheumatism; insomnia.
Use: 1. As a tonic: 2-3 capsules per day…can be used with the Nervous Tension formula. 2. Menses: 4-6 capsules per day. 3. Pregnancy: 3-5 capsules per day. Can supplement with Nervous Tension (1-2 per day) and Whole Body Tonic (2-3 per day). 4. Other applications: 4 capsules as needed, up to 12 per day.
The focus of this blend is on sustaining and reinforcing the woman during difficult physical times, such as pregnancy, birth, menopause, menstruation, etc. It reduces pain, cramping, uterine atony, and related problems, and helps maintain good hormonal health and balance. The blend will serve best when used moderately on a regular basis. An Important Note: Although estrogenic and other neuro-hormonal agents are present in some of the herbs, the estrogenic action of blends like this has been grossly overestimated by some individuals. While some estrogenic activity may be present, exaggerated assertions along those lines are unwarranted. Clinical observations of medicinal effects support a variety of interpretations, of which the estrogenic theory is but one.
Black Cohosh—was introduced to American medicine by the Indians, who called it squaw root. Used to treat uterine disorders. Clinical findings are: soothes irritation and congestion of uterus, cervix and vagina. Contributes to quick, easy and uncomplicated deliveries. Acts both directly on the tissues of the reproductive apparatus and indirectly through the nervous system.
Black Haw (Crampbark)—Used for miscarriage prevention, false labor, prevent spontaneous abortion; painful menstruation; ease menopause symptoms; prolapsed uterus; pain relief. Contains salicin; an analgesic similar to aspirin. Do not use if allergic to aspirin.
Chaste tree—A remedy for gynecological formulas for at least 2500 years. Used for menstrual disorders, PMS, breast pain, low progesterone levels. Also given for menopausal problems including acne, hot flashes, migraine, impotence; depression and mood swings.
Lady’s Mantle—used for centuries for healing a woman’s system. Used to stimulate the proper menstrual flow. Useful uterine astringent; helps reduce painful periods.
Licorice Root—Used in uterine tonics by cultures in Asia, Europe and North America, premier her for such in holistic medicine. A study on ovulation found that Licorice Root normalized the ovulation in women who did not ovulate.
Raspberry Leaves—Helps normalize women’s reproductive systems. Controls hormonal run away. Relaxes uterine muscles. Helps tone the smooth muscle of the uterus. The relaxing response is valuable in causing contractions during labor.
Passion Flower—Calms nerves from hormonal adjustments common to women. Helps relieve pain, discomforts, and nervous manifestations associated with menses.
Chamomile—proven uterine tonic. Mild sedative and anti- inflammatory properties. Positive interaction between passion flower and chamomile.
Fenugreek Seed—Helps stimulate and tone uterus. Helps lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Helps with female problems of all types.
Saw Palmetto Berry—An herbal medicine in the U.S. for 200 years. Nutritive tonic; decreasing ovarian and uterine irritability, relieving dysmenorrheal and healing ovarian dysfunction. Used to treat virtually all diseases of the reproductive system.
Squaw Vine—Native American plant. Used prominently in the native American medicine and in homeopathic medicine for over 100 years for reproductive system problems.
Wild Yam Root—Over 200 years of use in American medicine. Used to treat dysmenorrheal,ovarian neuralgia and cramps, after-birth pains, and other problems of menses and childbirth.
Kelp—Included in this blend for it’s considerable nutritive and tonic value. It prevents breast cancer.
