Herbal Shampoos and Lice

The December 13, 2011 "Wall Street Journal" had an article titled "Parents' Latest Pick: Herbal Shampoos to Keep Away Lice"

In the article; it cites a 2004 study published by the Israel Medical Association Journal showing Citronella essential oil repels head lice.

There are many essential oils that repel head lice....the little critters dislike strong essential oils. All little critters dislike essential oils. This knowledge is what I have built many Healing-Scents products around.

So:  Use one of our natural shampoos or bar soaps, the detangler, or hair gel to give yourself and your children extra protection from head lice.

Tea Tree and Galbanum Essential Oils. 100% Therapeutic Grade essential oils. Neem Seed oil is a natural insecticide.

Don't use those toxic treatments like RID!
You and your children do not need to be exposed to those pesticides and toxic chemicals.

An effective, chemical-free treatment for head lice.

This is pure essential oils with neem seed oil. This ultra-strong blend kills head lice, adults and the eggs.

For hair:
In an empty bottle: place 1/2 Tbsp. Head Lice Treatment. Put in 2 oz. of shampoo. (We recommend our Shampoo/Body Wash; but if you have not switched to our castile soaps; use your brand.)
Shake well. Divide hair into small sections. Apply to scalp, then down hair. Cover with a shower cap. Will be "tingly". Keep covered for 10 - 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with very warm water. When hair is dry check again for lice. If you find any they are probably dead; but you can repeat if you are concerned. Repeat in 4-7 days. Use as needed or as a preventative if infestation is heavy.

For laundry:  Wash with hot water; warm water rinse.  Use full strength apple or wine vinegar in the rinse dispenser. Put 1 tsp. of Head Lice Treatment in vinegar.

Of course we recommend using soap nuts or our castile soap. The most important step is to use hot water for washing bed linens.
